15 / 08 / 2020

At the initial stage, about 500 women farmers applied to participate in the AFAQ project implemented by “Agro Procurement and Supply” OJSC under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture with the technical and financial support of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and PASHA Holding.

So far, the farms of 72 farmers have been inspected and evaluated.  After the assessment, farms that meet the project's criteria will be provided with appropriate equipment and training in accordance with their requests.

Yesterday, another meeting was held with the very first female farmers selected for the project from Shamakhi region. During the meeting, 3 women farmers who applied to the project and successfully completed the training were supported according to their needs.  All three supported farmers are residents of Malikchobanli village of Shamakhi region.  Farmers Ramila Seyidova and Gulmaya Seyidova were given cattle to expand their farms, and Irada Abdullayeva was given small cattle.

During the meeting, project coordinator of AFAQ project - Fidan Aliyeva and director of the Shamakhi State Agro Development Center (SADC) Etibar Muradli congratulated the women farmers on the successful completion of the training and recommended using the services of the Ministry of Agriculture and its agencies to expand and develop their farms in the future.

It should be noted that the AFAQ project is implemented to increase the number of women farmers working in agriculture, as well as their knowledge and skills, as well as to support them in becoming agro-entrepreneurs.  The project will continue to support women farmers in their needs.

Women farmers wishing to apply for the project can register through the website afaq.az, apply to the Regional Offices of “Agro Procurement and Supply” OJSC, as well as SADC, by calling 1652 or +994504008899.

It should be noted that about 300 women farmers have benefited from the training and consulting support provided by local and foreign experts within the framework of AFAQ project.
