The meetings with farmers who have joined the "From City to Village" project have started. The meetings are organized in order to familiarize local farmers with the basic principles of agritourism and international experience, to improve their skills.

The meetings have been held in Ismayilli, Sheki, Zagatala, Gabala and Shamakhi regions so far. The topics of the meetings encompassed "Hospitality in Agritourism", "Organization of catering in Agritourism", "Organization of cleaning work in Agritourism".

During the meetings, the requirements of the coronavirus pandemic and quarantine regime throughout the world and in our country are strictly observed. During the meetings, all participants are provided with medical protective equipment (gloves, mask, medical alcohol). The use of protective equipment and the protection of social distance are strictly controlled.

It should be noted that the "From City to Village" project is implemented by "Agro Procurement and Supply" OJSC under the Ministry of Agriculture with the support of "Pasha Holding" and the United States Agency for International Development.

The goal of the project is to develop agritourism in our country, increase employment of the population living in the regions, create  alternative sales channels for local farms, as well as various tourism opportunities for urban residents and foreign tourists.

71 farm owners have participated in the trainings conducted by local and foreign experts within the scope of the project so far. In total, nearly 200 agro entrepreneurs have applied for the participation in the project. 76 farms out of 118 farms were considered suitable for participation in the project. Reconstruction works are being carried out on the farms that have received the right to participate in the project, and they are provided with some technical and equipment support. Since the start of the project, more than 40 agro-tours have been organized in different regions. In total, more than 800 tourists joined these tours, about 150 of them are foreign tourists.

In order to improve the quality of services provided to tourists and facilitate their appeals, a beta version of the portal www.tovillage.az of this project was launched this month. After the end of the quarantine regime in our country, it will be possible to join the tours to Shamakhi, Ismayilli, Sheki, Zagatala, Lankaran and Guba regions and as well as order individual tours through the portal. It is also possible to get detailed information about each farm in which agro-ecotour is organized through the portal.

The meetings with farmers will be held in Guba on September 1, Gusar on September 2 and Lankaran on September 4.
