Despite unprecedented challenge of Coronavirus pandemic ( COVID-19) spreading around the world and in our country, the implementation of the projects carried out by "Agro Procurement and Supply" OJSC under the Ministry of Agriculture are being continued. All the activities executed within the scope of the projects are carried out in conformity with the quarantine conditions in accordance with the decisions of the Operational Headquarters under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It should be noted that the meetings with the farmers who applied for the AFAQ project in Ismayilli on June 1-4, and the famers who applied for AFAQ and "From City to Village" projects in Shamakhi on June 17-18 were held by the representatives of “Agro Procurement and Supply” OJSC.
The meetings encompassed Sumagalli, Goytepe, Kurdmashi, Topchu villages of Ismayilli region, Meysari, Malikchobanli, Goylar, Galaderasi, Mirikand villages and Shahriyar settlement of Shamakhi region. In total, the meetings with 33 women farmers in Ismayilli region and 8 women farmers in Shamakhi region were held. In addition, the meeting with 7 farm owners operating in Shamakhi region and applying for the "From City to Village" project was arranged. During the meetings, surveys were conducted in order to assess the farm needs of farmers and farms were inspected.
Moreover, several online meetings with farmers and project partners have been held in the direction of the project implementation this month. Thus, on June 5, an online meeting was held with the participation of the head of the Ismayilli District Executive Power, Nahid Bagirov and the representatives of the APS and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in order to discuss partnership opportunities within the scope of AFAQ project. On June 11, another online meeting was held with the participation of the head of Shamakhi region Executive Power, Tahir Mammadov, the director of Shamakhi DAIM, the representatives of the APS and the Regional Development Public Union. The current stage of AFAQ, as well as "From City to Village" projects and future perspectives for cooperation was discussed at this meeting.
It should be noted that AFAQ project is being implemented within the scope of "FAO-Azerbaijan Partnership Program" in cooperation with "Agro Procurement and Supply" OJSC, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and "Pasha Holding".
